Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Archaeologist to join our team in Houston, TX. This position involves managing and conducting Phase I-III fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and archaeological research with a focus on Texas and surrounding states. You will assist Senior Archaeologists in all aspects of projects, from field investigations to report preparation, ensuring the highest professional and company standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct archaeological fieldwork and identify artifacts to determine the presence of historic and prehistoric sites
  • Collect, analyze, and document data during archaeological investigations
  • Conduct lab analysis of artifacts and prepare materials for curation
  • Write and review portions of archaeological reports and site forms under the Senior Archaeologist's guidance
  • Assist in project planning, including mitigation strategies and resolution of adverse effects to archaeological resources
  • Collaborate with field, lab, and office staff to maintain project quality and compliance with professional standards

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
  • Must meet the  Secretary of the Interior's Qualification Standards for Archaeologists
  • 4+ years of professional archaeological experience , including at least one year of supervisory experience
  • Regional experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology
  • Demonstrated skills and supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldwork
  • Ability to provide a writing sample (thesis, dissertation, or archaeological report)
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA)
  • Proficiency with ArcGISPro, Field Maps, Google Earth, or other GIS programs
  • Experience obtaining a Texas Antiquities Permit
  • Significant laboratory and curation experience

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in hybrid or field environments
