Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking a motivated and dynamic architectural historian intern to support our Cultural Resources Team and clients located in the Upper Midwest. The qualified intern will work in close coordination with our professional team and Senior Project Managers in a range of architectural history projects. Expand your knowledge of consulting and the Section 106 process with projects that vary in size, scope, and complexity for a variety of clients. Work will be conducted in close coordination and under the supervision of senior-level staff. Roles and Responsibilities - Assist with performing background research, historic architectural field work, contextual analysis, and narrative descriptions of architecture history properties - Assist with recommendations for Section 106 reports, including eligibility determinations and effects assessments - Coordinate with the supervisor to ensure quality of data, field work, and documentation efforts - Conduct local field work on an as-needed basis; during summer months, regional field work may be available as well - Ability to complete physically demanding tasks in urban and rural settings and/or hot and dry climates, including walking, hiking, and field navigation Your Capabilities and Credentials - Strong writing and research skills - Fluency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as Adobe Acrobat - Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting - Demonstrate good judgement, collaboration, technical skills, and communication skills - Knowledge of architectural styles, Section 106 of National Historic Preservation Act, National Register of Historic Places, and the Secretary of Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties - Must be able to read a map and utilize map application on a tablet or cell phone; working knowledge of mapping and ARCGIS-related programs preferred - Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record Education and Experience - Working towards a master's degree in one of the related fields: History, Historic Preservation, Art History, Anthropology, Folk Studies, or Public History Please include the following additional required application materials: - Resume - Letter of recommendation from a faculty member - Writing example Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Join us and redefine your personal best. **Pay Range:** - Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 42,900.00 - Max Salary $ 57,900.00 **Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
