Job Description
Job Responsibilities:
- Workers Compensation injury and illness evaluation (within scope of practice), treatment and case management for sites as assigned
- Clinical services at Occupational Health Center (s), sites as assigned (within scope of practice)
- Deliver, as appropriate, all medical surveillance programs in compliance with Federal requirements and Company guidelines, including but not limited to: Laboratory Animal Allergy, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Powered Industrial Vehicle, Reproductive Risk Assessment, DOT, Hazmat, and any other surveillances needed based on risk assessments.
- Maintain all medical information per OH, legal, HIPAA and ethical guidelines
- Work closely with HSE on Industrial Hygiene data interpretation as related to surveillance/PPE; medical recommendations in work risk assessments; work related injuries and illnesses prevention; accommodations and return to work
- Work with site managers and HR in regard to work accommodations, Return to work, EAP, fit for duty evaluations, ADA issues, etc.
- Manage the MERT (Medical Emergency Response Team) to include ongoing training activities, Hepatitis B immunizations and AEDs for sites as assigned
- Offer evaluation and treatment (within scope of practice) work related or non-work related injuries and illnesses and refer as appropriate
- The OHN will provide nursing and OH support for sites as assigned.
- Assist in accident investigation to ensure completion of all action items related to the health of the employee
- Utilize nursing knowledge, problem solving abilities and critical thinking skills to assess medical surveillance documentation to provide determinations related to the employees’ status in appropriate medical surveillance programs
- Maintain the supplies and equipment of the site Health Centers as assigned.
- Manage OH issues remotely when appropriate and required.
- Provide Travel Consultations to employees
- Visit the work-site periodically and document observations/recommendations
Skills:
- RN, with 3 or more years of experience
- At least 2 years of occupational health experience in manufacturing and R&D
- Occupational Health certification preferred
- Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort working autonomously
- CPR/AED certified
- Experience in Biosafety preferred
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills required
- Knowledge of EAP, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Registered Nurse or NP unrestricted nursing license
Education/Experience:
- 3 years of nursing experience
- 2 years of occupational health experience
- Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort working autonomously
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills
- CPR/AED certification required
- Phlebotomy experience preferred
- Case management experience
- Knowledge of EAP, OSHA, FML, ADA, HIPAA.
- Must be licensed to practice in state of Massachusetts
- RN AA Degree, with minimum 3-5 years of occ health experience, strongly preferred specific to pharma.
- Bachelor's Degree, with minimum 2 years of occ health experience, strongly preferred specific to pharma.
- In lieu of full off health experience, emergency department or critical care experience will be considered.
- Previous medical surveillance background
- Post hire physicals
- Knowledge of EAP, OSHA, FML, ADA, HIPAA ? CPR/AED certification
