Job Description
Boston Speech Therapy is seeking a Reading Specialist for a part-time position with flexible hours. In this role, you will provide targeted reading instruction and interventions for students experiencing difficulties in literacy. Your expertise will help to foster a love for reading and improve academic performance.
This position offers the flexibility of scheduling and requires 8 hours of work per week, with compensation from $60-$70 per hour. This is part time and can start immediately or in the fall. 15-30 hours a week for a middle school or a high school.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate reading skills and identify specific areas for improvement
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans tailored to each student's needs
- Provide small group or one-on-one instruction in reading strategies focusing on fluency, comprehension, and phonics
- Utilize a variety of evidence-based interventions and instructional materials
- Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and support staff to track student progress
- Maintain detailed records of student assessments, plans, and progress
Requirements
- Certified Reading Specialist credential
- Experience working with students with reading difficulties or learning disabilities
- Solid understanding of evidence-based reading instruction methods
- Experience with programs such as OG or Wilson reading program is advantageous
- Strong assessment skills for evaluating reading levels and needs
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills
- Flexibility to adapt lessons to meet diverse student needs
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
