BASIC FUNCTION (the primary purpose of this position):

The primary function of this position is to promote a safe secure environment for the Ko Kwel Casino Resort | Medford, its guests, and employees. This position also observes and ensures that overall operations conform to casino policy and procedure. In addition to being responsible for the same duties as any other Security Officer, this position is also responsible for the overall performance of personnel assigned to their shift in the absence of the Shift Manager. This person must possess management and leadership skills. This person must be a team player and must possess and demonstrate the attitude necessary to set an example to subordinates.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes a clean, safe, healthy and friendly work environment for employees, visitors, and guests; report and directs safety issues to Safety Committee; alerts Security Manager of safety concerns.
  • Manages and supervises the Security Shift when the Security Manager is unavailable or in their absence.
  • In the absence of the Shift Manager: delegates authority to the Security Senior Officer.
  • Ensures guest and employee escorts to and from the casino when requested.
  • Ensures escorts for large sums of money and chips in the casino.
  • Ensures compliance of casino policy and reports policy infractions to immediate supervisors.
  • Ensures and monitors patrols of all casino property.
  • Supervises and assists with the machine and table drops.
  • Responsible for unauthorized persons on casino property (I.E., restricted or overly intoxicated persons, and minors).
  • Assists with physical altercations when necessary.
  • Observes and reports any suspicious activity or drug use to the Security Manager.
  • Observes and uses proper chain of command.
  • Responds and/or assists with medical emergencies.
  • Maintains daily activity reports and head counts.
  • Conducts or monitors various departmental duties, administrative and operational.
  • Generates performance appraisals or submits input on Security Officers when requested.
  • Assists the Shift Manager in the training and development of Tribal Member employees following the Ko Kwel Casino's Tribal Member Preference Policies.
  • In absence or availability of the Security Manager and or Security Director: assumes the duties and responsibilities of specified positions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (objective educational or technical training required; skills; and years of experience):

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must be High School Graduate or above (completed GED acceptable).
  • Must have a current valid Oregon Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have at least two years or more of experience served in Casino Security and/or Law Enforcement (military or civilian).
  • Must have at least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • EMR Certification or ability to obtain EMR certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
  • Must obtain and maintain OLCC Service Permit.
  • Computer skills must include Microsoft word, office, and windows application for word processing.
  • Must pass and remain in compliance with Coquille Gaming Commission background check and drug free work place policies.

The Ability To:

  • Work weekends, holidays, and all shifts as required by the Security Department.
  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Walk for extended periods of time.
  • Respond to emergency situations within a reasonable time, running to the emergency may be required.
  • Lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
  • Sit for long periods of time if the situation dictates.
  • Make decisions under pressure.
  • Manage anger, stress, fear, violence and hostility of others appropriately.
  • Work in an environment that may expose you to second hand smoke.
  • Work in an environment that may expose you to loud noises from the gaming floor.
