Job Purpose:
The Senior Project Manager is primarily responsible for leading business transformation projects or large workstreams of a broader cross-functional program within People Services & Solutions to achieve business case outcomes for Novartis. The position requires a leader that can facilitate changes in a networked complex environment. Strong communication, structure and organization skills are necessary. The ability to work within all levels of the organization are key to success in this position.

Major Accountabilities:

Planning & Execution:
• Planning and managing global projects includes people & organization service integration, workstreams, monitor and initiate corrective measures in case of deviations
• Manage the employee transition workstream, legal entity setup and changes required for large reorganizations.
• Work closely with stakeholders at global / regional / country level as relevant to drive respective projects and to anticipate future needs and opportunities; these are usually, People & Organization Business Partners, Country People & Organization Heads, CoEs, IT, Finance and Business
• Be active key member of the global team and proactively establish strong relationship with the extended People & Organization community to understand their needs and challenges, and to manage implementation of operational objectives and drive continuous improvement and innovation
• Drive / participate project budget planning discussions and is responsible for the project budget/resource allocation
• Manage project related change for People & Organization Services and partner with business areas to ensure necessary business owned change measures and communications plans reflect what is needed to achieve outcomes and ensure business continuity during the change.
• Partner with relevant functions to develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders

Monitoring & Control:
• Lead and drive key projects
• Monitor project progress, cost, resource allocation, and timelines and develop corrective actions if deviations occur.
• Drive periodic cost and efficiency analyses to support productivity objectives, monitor, initiate additional activities if required
• Ensure adherence to relevant labour and employment law and, when necessary, manage labour relations, including relations with external labour organizations through People & Organization BPs
• Ensure compliance with required frameworks (e.g. legal and compliance)
• Ensure adoption and adherence to Novartis People & Organization practices and policies, assuring that these are transparent to the respective organization

People & Organization:
• Responsible for the project leadership, organization, coordination, development and implementation of the services, processes, and projects in scope
• Drive to a high performing project team by setting clear expectations for team and team member’s roles and responsibilities, promoting team cohesiveness to optimize performance, and mediating conflict resolution
• Lead by example cultural change and foster diversity and inclusion within the Unit
• Manage external associates, vendors
• Align with IT on people and organization related topics, in particular if they are closely working together
• Manage stakeholders on a global, regional and country level across several functions – e.g. finance, legal, people & organization, business.

Ideal Background & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in HR/other related field is preferred.
HR background
• Excellent English spoken and written
• Min. 5 years of experience in HR Operations and leading projects
• Work experience in international environment/team/global company and experience in SSC environment is a must.
• Work experience in virtual/remote teams preferred
• Highly organized, structured and efficient working style; ability to manage a high workload with conflicting priorities in a challenging environment
• Excellent clear communication to stakeholders in business and senior leaders, including written and verbal form and presentations to steering committees
