DiscoverU Health is seeking a UX/UI Design Intern for a fully remote, 6-month internship requiring a 20-hour-per-week commitment. As a growing healthcare startup, we’re building innovative digital solutions that improve access to care in underserved communities. This internship offers hands-on experience in research, wireframing, interaction design, content strategy, usability testing, and visual design—all while working closely with a collaborative, mission-driven team.
Please note: This is an unpaid internship designed for educational purposes and is eligible for academic credit. It is structured to benefit the intern through mentorship and real-world learning. There is no expectation of compensation or employment upon completion, though high-performing interns may be considered for a paid part-time role.
Conduct user research to identify behavior patterns, pain points, and design opportunities
Develop personas, journey maps, and empathy maps
Create wireframes, user flows, and clickable prototypes
Design intuitive, accessible user interfaces aligned with brand standards
Apply principles of typography, color theory, and layout consistency
Support micro-interactions and motion design for better user engagement
Assist with usability testing and feedback analysis
Support A/B testing and analyze behavior data to inform design decisions
Recommend UX enhancements based on analytics
Contribute to content strategy and user-friendly messaging
Ensure clarity, consistency, and accessibility in digital content
Work cross-functionally with developers, product managers, and marketing teams
Present design ideas and rationale in collaborative team discussions
Participate in team brainstorming and ideation sessions
Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a Master’s degree in UX Design, HCI, or a related field
Passion for UX/UI design and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, remote environment
Familiarity with Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar design tools
Understanding of core UX principles: user flows, wireframes, visual design
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Bonus: Experience with usability testing or analytics platforms
Real-world experience in UX/UI design within a growing health tech startup
